Rulling of Islam on charity | What Is The Best Charity In Islam

Charity:

Charity is a humanitarian act. It is referred as kindness and tolerance in judging others or the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, setting an organization to help those in need.

Charity in Islam:

Charity is a 3rd pillar of Islam. Giving money to the poor is an emblem of Islam and a sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace).
If a Muslim feels the pain of his or her fellow human being, and wishes the same comfort and good life for others which he wishes for himself – it is a natural reaction to give in charity, to ease this suffering.

Quantity of charity:

Every wealthy adult Muslim must give 2.5% of his or her wealth in charity every year. Allah says: “O you who believe! Spend out of what We have given you” (2:254). This is the least charity a Muslim must give every year.

The best charity(sadaqah e jariyah):

The best charity is that which continuously benefits people, such as helping to build a school, a clinic, or a water supply system, or helping a poor person start up his own business. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “When a person dies, his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” [Muslim, Tirmidhi]

Give charity secretly and openly:

Allah says, “If you give charity openly then what a good thing it is; and if you give to beggars hidingly it is better for you than every thing, and He will remove some of your sins. And Allah is Aware of what you do.” (Qur’an 2:271).

Taunting and hurting will abolish your charity:

Allah says, “O believers! Void not your charities by boasting of your favors conferred and injuring, like him who spent his wealth for showing to people and believes not in Allah and Last Day. Then the example of him is like that of a smooth rock on which is dust of earth; now a heavy rain fell upon it leaving it a bare stone. They shall have no control on anything of what they have earned and Allah guides not the infidels.”(2: 264)
Some scholars say that taunting means to take advantage of a person you donated money to, and hurting them is to make them feel ashamed of their poverty.

Best charity to family:

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out – on Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha – to the prayer place, and when he had finished (the prayer) he preached to the people and enjoined them to give charity. He said, “O people, give in charity!” Then he went over to the women and said, “O women, give in charity for I have seen that you are the majority of the people of Hell.”When he went home, Zaynab the wife of Ibn Mas’ood came seeking permission to see him.It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, here is Zaynab.” He said, “Which Zaynab?” It was said, “The wife of Ibn Mas’ood.” He said, “Yes, let her in.” So they let her in and she said, “O Prophet of Allah, today you enjoined charity, and I have some jewelry which I wanted to give in charity, but Ibn Mas’ood claims that he and his child have more right to receive it in charity.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Give it in charity to Ibn Mas’ood, for your husband and your child have the most right that you should give it to them in charity.”
And Allah knows best 🙂
